The France you don’t know

The masterclass dedicated to those who wanted to go beyond the most famous labels and discover the lesser-known side of the wine-producing country par excellence has come to an end. A journey that guided participants through France, which has trained generations of producers, defined styles and inspired entire regions around the world. While the past remains an essential reference point, it was the present – with its challenges and transformations – that became the real focus of discussion.

Spread over two evenings of in-depth discussion and tasting, the masterclass offered a comprehensive overview of the history, culture and evolution of French wine, covering different terroirs and analysing data, production choices and current changes. Each session included a guided tasting of six carefully selected wines.

18 November – Tradition, personalities and the weight of the past

The first evening was dedicated to the history of French wine and its most influential figures. We traced the cultural roots that have made France a global benchmark, the traditions that still shape its identity and the role of the language of wine in shaping the collective imagination. A journey into the past that is necessary to understand its significance.

2 December – Enography, production and new horizons

The second meeting introduced participants to French oenography and the data that defines the country’s production structure. Topics discussed included marketing, communication, contemporary culture and the economic, climatic and social transformations that are reshaping the wine industry. This up-to-date analysis provided insight into the new balance and challenges of the coming years.

Thanks to all participants who made this trip through France’s wine country an opportunity rich in discussion and insight.
